ACUPUNCTURE

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY
Hi, I'm Alex (she/her), a Registered Doctor of Acupuncture and Functional Nutritional Therapist.
I offer a compassionate, one-on-one treatment process designed around your individual health journey and goals, using acupuncture, cupping, guasha, TCM herbal medicine and nutritional counseling.
I follow a consent-led, trauma-informed care model. As a member of Skipping Stone's Trans-Affirming Network, I have undertaken training and an ongoing commitment to trans and gender diverse inclusivity in my practice.
I also offer Community Acupuncture as a lower-cost alternative to private treatment. These group sessions are designed to reduce stress and promote overall health and balance.

I specialize in...
CHRONIC PAIN & MIGRAINES
Acupuncture (as well as cupping and TCM herbs) are excellent for pain relief, muscle and fascial release, increasing circulation, lowering inflammation and tissue healing. Arthritis, sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia, and injury recovery are just a few of the conditions that benefit from acupuncture.
We can also treat the internal imbalances that lead to complex pain conditions such as migraines and menstrual cramps - for both short-term relief and longer-term prevention.
DIGESTION, ALLERGIES & SKIN ISSUES
Bloating, gas, or sleepiness after meals, allergies, skin conditions (i.e. acne, eczema), chronic fatigue and even autoimmune diseases have common roots in digestive function.
Acupuncture can improve digestion function, as well as lower systemic inflammation - for better energy, comfort and quality of life.
MENTAL HEALTH, TRAUMA & SENSORY REGULATION
FERTILITY & HORMONAL BALANCE
Acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system, the vagus nerve, neurotransmitter activity, and cortisol (the stress hormone). This helps treat the traumatic stress response, creating a sense of embodied safety. It is also helpful for anxiety, depression and insomnia. It has also been shown to ease sensory stress/overload and neurological symptoms in ADHD and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
I use consent-led, trauma-informed practices to create an environment of safety and sensory ease. Finally, I offer alternatives to acupuncture (for example, acupressure massage, cupping and stick-on ear seeds) if you are needle-hesitant.
Acupuncture's ability to bring balance and ease to the hormonal and reproductive systems is the key to its increasing popularity for fertility, pre and post-natal support, menopause, and menstrual irregularities. Furthermore, acupuncture can treat PCOs, endometriosis and ovarian cysts.
It can also provide support and ease side effects for individuals undergoing gender-affirming hormone therapy or surgeries.
